About Us
We are delighted that you are considering Hometown Children's Center for your childcare needs. Hometown strives to provide a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable educational environment for the children in our care so that your child will look forward to coming to the center each day. Committed to meeting the individual developmental needs of young children and their families, the Hometown staff have designed a curriculum that accepts each child as a unique individual who will develop at his or her own rate of maturity and that prepares children for the future by creating a strong sense of self, family and community. We are dedicated to the development of the whole child in spirit, mind, and body and our programs are set up with ample opportunities to explore and experiment with as many hands on activities as possible. Each child is offered the opportunity to grow and develop in an enriching, multi-choice, and pressure-free environment allowing them to develop a positive self image and social skills, and to grow emotionally, physically, and intellectually. We encourage and support families in their efforts to foster the development of positive values such as caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, which will enrich both the family and the larger community.
Hometown Staff
Hometown Children’s Center is owned and operated by Melanie and Bob Schmitz. Melanie, who has 25 years of experience in childcare, serves as the center’s on-site director. All of the teachers are certified in Early Childhood 1 and 2, Infant/Toddler Care and Infant/Child CPR-First Aid. Several teachers have additional educational training.
The full-time staff are assisted by part-time student employees from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Most of these students are Early Childhood majors or Elementary Education majors.
